In Mexico, two Cathoric Priests, Miguel Hidalgo and Jose Maria Morelos, led mestizos and Native Americans in revolotion against Spain. The 1810 revolt threatened the power of Pninsuiares and Creoles. The Goverment forces captured and executed both leaders in 1811. and Morelas, who took over for Hidalgo in 1813. 10 years later, in 1821, the Creoles announced independence from Spain, in 1823 Mexico became a repubic. That same year Central American countries also announced their independence from spanish rule.

He is remembered as the Father of the Mexican Revolution, which was won in 1821
